Cure for the Run to Benefit Somacow and Rock For HungerOne of the best fundraising events is the 5k run. These runs can attract thousands of participants from the super fit and serious to house moms to kids and everyone in between. Our good friends Stepping Onward are holding a 5k on August 15th and we urge you to visit their site to learn more about their event.

For those that are not in the best shape of their life, Rock For Hunger and local Podcasting juggernauts Somacow are bringing Orlando the Cure for the Run, a 0.05k race that takes place on Wall Street. On Saturday, August 22nd break out your flashiest pair of tennis shoes, a sweat band or 2 and prepare to race to help homelessness in Orlando, FL.

Jennifer from the Somacow crew presented this opportunity to us a few weeks ago and we are very excited to be the charity of choice for this social event. Here are some of the details.

How far is 0.05k?
It is a taxing and sweat drenching 164 feet.

You guys are Rock For Hunger and Somacow, there has to be some entertainment?Somacow Rocks For Hunger
You betcha. Right now we have confirmed Patrick O'Brien to rock an acoustic set and should have the rest of the entertainment solid by the end of the week.

The music will take place on the Wai Tiki Stage and will be family friendly acoustic tracks and sing along cover songs like Lady Gaga, Bon Jovi and Jimmy Buffet among others.

During the run there will also be plenty of entertainment from water stations to juggles, magicians and street performers.

Ok, I think I can muscle that distance, how do I signup?
Great, we knew you were up to it sport. You can download the signup form here and follow the directions to start getting pledges. You can also jump on over to www.curefortherun.com and get the lowdown there.

We do ask that you find some donations for your run, it will benefit Rock For Hunger and our main objectives for the rest of the year which includes finding jobs and employment for the homeless, working on lifestyle design and getting our first offical headquarters to house training classes, music lessons and give Chris somewhere to call home while working with this crazy organization!

If you are not going to run, but want to make a difference, you can donate via PayPal at www.curefortherun.com.

What else do I need to know?
You can certainly help us spread the word, help find runners and donors. This is going to be a very cool and unique event and we hope to be able to share it with some of our very fun friends in Orlando!

If you have any other questions, would like to sponsor or can help in an additional way please shoot an email to greg@rockforhunger.org.

See you on the 22nd!

We definitely are looking forward to this! Rock for Hunger is such a fantastic organization and to have a fun day at Wall Street and raise money for you guys is the best of both worlds.
Plus I'm looking forward to seeing the SomaCow guys run...

I do not run. It is undignified for a man of my age and girth. Instead, I shall stride purposefully against hunger and homelessness.

While wearing an ascot and/or cummerbund.

Join me, won't you?

Interesting post... Looks like solid-state memory is really starting to become more popular. Hopefully we'll start seeing decreasing solid state harddisk prices in the near future. $5 32 GB Micro SDs for your Nintendo DS flash card... sounds good to me!

i've been looking to figure out a place to start the Acai Berry free trial and was just wanting to know if someone had some opinions on whether or not the stuff works for dieting? So far here is the 1 article I have been able to read online that seemed real for the goals I have. I really love event like this: Sweaty but with a cause.

For me, I really intend to join run race for a cause. I want to help organizations or charities with their advent works through this. Nonetheless, Hope I was there to join you guys but I am far from orlando. Anyway, thanks for sharing this. I'm looking forward to events like you have here in my location (INew York).

Running is really one natural and cheapest way to stay healthy and fit. A bottle of water is all you need. Moreover, being involved in activities such as this won't just help yourself but will help others too. Run for a Cause, is how they usually call it. Cause means two things here, your own reason and your will to help others.
