Featured Artists of the Week: Kardinal Offishall and Hor!zen
>> Wednesday, November 5, 2008
It has been difficult fitting the plethora of amazing bands playing RFH Fest 3 into this weekly column. Because of this, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to find out that we have two featured artists this week as well. This week, we are highlighting the headliner of the event, Kardinal Offishall, and Hor!zen, local reggae experts.
The only thing "Dangerous" about Kardinal Offishall is not coming to see him perform on November 15th at the Plaza Theatre. So what if Akon won't be there? Have you heard his other tracks? Try listening to "Numba 1," "Burnt," and "Set it Off" on his MySpace page. I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised to find out how relevant his music is and how delightful his tonalities are on record.
We are expecting Kardinal to tear up the Plaza stage next Saturday. We all have no doubt that he will sound better live than on record. Do you really want to miss out on dancing to one of the hottest songs out right now? I don't think you do. Now that would be "Dangerous."
Hor!zen (Yes, that is an exclamation point, not an i) has been rocking Central Florida for several years now. After seeing them perform around many times, they never cease to amaze me. Expectedly, they are getting better and better as time passes on.
My personal favorite track of theirs is "Snowboarder Dub." The song not only displays their sense of humor, but it also highlights their ability to lay down a tasty groove. That song, as well as others such as "Just You" and "Troublesome" can be heard at the band's MySpace page.
The foundation is set. The bands will be there. The artists will be there. The vendors will be there.
