Rock for Hunger Weekly Report
>> Saturday, May 31, 2008
This is the first edition of the Rock for Hunger Weekly Report. The Weekly Report is to inform Board of Directors, Staff, Volunteers, Supporters, Patrons, and everyone else reading that may be interested in getting involved with Rock for Hunger, or just interested in what we are up to, on our recent news updates and activities. Here are the key things that we have been working in the past weeks:
501(c)3 Status
This monster is almost over. We recently received a letter of more information that was needed, which is now complete and sent back in to the IRS. Thank you to Aretha Olivarez (Author of The Best Guide for Nonprofit Corporations) for your great help and support! She has been a tremendous help in filling out this paper work, and getting it back promptly.
Getting Organized
We are now using a Google Calendar on our Rock for Hunger website to inform everyone of upcoming Volunteer events, special events, and concerts by Rock for Hunger supporting musicians. Please be sure to sign-up for volunteer events asap, so we can get a better understanding of what kind of support we have from week to week, and how much support is still needed.
Rock for Hunger Fest 3
This week we are working at full force for our 3rd Annual Rock for Hunger Music Festival. We are finalizing the paper work with our venue which will be The Plaza Theatre located on 425 N. Bumby Ave. Orlando, FL 32803. The date for the Festival will be Saturday November 15, 20008. We have also sent in two offers to two performers to be our headlining artists for this year’s event. More news on this will be available at the Board of Directors meeting, or as soon as these two artists accept our offer.
Full Sail Concert
Full Sail is having a kick-off concert to their giving back to the community effort on Friday June 13, 2008 and Rock for Hunger is part of this great event. Performing this far is Rock for Hunger’s very own Greg Rollett as his alter ego G-Ro with POB (Patrick O’Brien – Co-Organizer of the Job Training program with Greg). More performers are to be announced asap.
Warped Tour
Rock for Hunger will be part of the nonprofit sector at Warped Tour 2008 in Atlanta, GA, Orlando, FL, St. Petersburg, FL, Miami, FL and Elkton, FL. More details on this will be available at next weeks Rock for Hunger Report.
Keep checking the blog for many great news on Rock for Hunger, current events, Web 2.0 for Nonprofits, and great interviews, reviews and more from local musicians, and musicians from around the world. Have a great weekend!
