the Week in Rock for Hunger (April 14, 2008)

It is very important to be able to separate work from family life and time for yourself. This weekend I have done a pretty good job at that, but could do better. However, I feel relaxed and energized for an exciting week in Rock for Hunger!!! Rock for Hunger Conversations will be back next week. Look for an interview with Pepper coming very soon. Here is what we got going on this week in Rock for Hunger:

MONDAY – Food Preparation (Orlando, FL)
Help us cook and prepare food for our most popular weekly event, the Orlando Food Sharing for the homeless. We will be preparing the food at chef Tee’s from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. For more info and directions e-mail Tee@rockforhunger.org or info@rockforhunger.org.

MONDAY – Food Sharing for the Homeless (Orlando, FL)
Once all the food is prepped, it goes downtown to feed over 100 individuals from 6:45pm to 8pm. Meeting point is in the parking lot on the corner of Magnolia and Washington in Downtown Orlando. For more info send us a message to tee@rockforhunger.org or info@rockforhunger.org.

THURSDAY – Employment Guide Job Fair (Orlando, FL)
Join us at the Employment Guide Job Fair from 10am to 2pm at the Amway Arena in Downtown Orlando. Find a job, and bring some dry beans and tomato sauce to the Rock for Hunger table.

THURSDAY – ROCK FOR HUNGER SPRING CONCERT (Orlando, FL)
We have already sold close to 200 tickets to this great Rock for Hunger event at Back Booth. Come enjoy great music from Chris Burns, Union Made, The Fling, and Sugarfreemusic along with great live art, poetry and more. The doors open at 9pm and show begins at 9:30pm sharp. There are still a few more advance tickets available for $5. For advance tickets go online, call us at 407-346-0334 or e-mail concerts@rockforhunger.org to get your tickets. They will be available on the night of the show for only $8. Still a great bargain for an amazing show for an awesome cause.

FRIDAY – Tutors & Meals (Orlando, FL)
Our time for Tutors & Meals this semester is coming to an end very soon. There are only five more chances to enjoy Tutors & Meals before we go into planning stages for our Monday through Friday program in October of 2008. We meet at the John H. Jackson Center every Friday from 3:30pm to 5pm. For more info e-mail us volunteer@rockforhunger.org.

SATURDAY – Poverty Branch at the Social (Orlando, FL)
Our good friends from Poverty Branch will be performing at the Social for another spectacular event. Don’t miss this. There will soon be very few chances to see this spectacular band for less than $10 in Orlando.

SUNDAY – Social Ghost at the Social (Orlando, FL)
Another spectacular Rock for Hunger Band, Social Ghost, will be performing at the Social next week. Be sure to check out this highly energetic band with very catchy and amazing music. This is an early all ages show. Be sure to get there on time.
