Featured Artist of the Week: Kaleigh Baker

Kaleigh Baker.... what can you say about one of the most refreshing and soulful singing voices that Orlando has heard in a very long time? Every time I visit her MySpace page to listen to some tunes (which is very often, mind you), I'm overwhelmed again and again, as if it was my first time hearing her. Throughout this habitual trip into her musical world, I feel as if I am listening to a star - a musician that has already sold millions of records.

Kaleigh may not have sold millions of records (yet), but her name and reputation is quickly catching on to the concealed passionate music-loving community that thoroughly enjoys the purest of sonances. As the release date of her debut album approaches (tentatively entitled "Baker's Kitchen"), it is becoming more and more evident that she and the record are destined for more than just local success.

My personal favorite track of hers, "Judy and Johnny" highlights her singing capabilities by offering a voluminous breadth of melodies that anyone can attempt to sing along with. Other stand out tracks, "PeaceLoveAndAllThat" and "The Whistle Song," remind me a little of British sensation Adele fused with the sincerity of early Carole King.

Everyone needs to do themselves a favor and visit her MySpace page right now:

You should also check her out at BackBooth on Saturday night, for she is performing with Rock for Hunger alum KG and the Band and touring delights, Fusik.

Upcoming Schedule:

2 May 2008 9:00pm BackBooth Orlando, FL
21 June 2008 10:00pm Central Station Orlando, FL
