For some odd reason, the Orlando hip-hop scene has always been extremely underrated and neglected. Although Central Florida is exploding with underground talent, the brilliant artists that make up a diversified scene, continuously get overlooked. Let's analyze specimen 1, for example:
Madd Illz has congregated in the center of the Orlando hip-hop scene for many years. Along the way, his sharp wit, timely humor, and overall relentlessness has earned him countless awards and trophies. After demolishing the demeanor and self-esteem of most of his surrounding MCs in freestyle battle competitions, Madd Illz still only received praise from a small clique that only encompassed few followers.
Before any assumptions can be made about this MC, one must check out his MySpace page to listen to some of his original music. Tracks like "Never Coming Back" and "Contest Song" display his multi-faceted musicianship that disables any critic to pigeonhole him into one corner. Listen to some of his music yourself, so that you can acknowledge that Madd Illz is an immense talent with a bright future.
Years have passed and Madd Illz is still known as the elite battle-rapper that he is. Since his reign as master, he has launched and subsequently hosted Florida's longest running hip-hop battle showcase dubbed "Lounge Battles," which takes place in some of the best venues in the Orlando area. As if this feature couldn't come at a better time, the sixth annual Lounge Battles are taking over Orlando this weekend, March 7th - 9th, at Taste, AKA Lounge, and BackBooth.
