The Week in Rock for Hunger (2/4/2008)

Welcome to the Week in Rock for Hunger for the week of Monday February 4 2008. The Rock for Hunger Board of Directors has set some exciting goals for the Tutors & Meals Program. It is our goal to open our own after school program facility in October of 2008, and by Fall of 2011 to open Rock for Hunger Prep K-12 to prepare less fortunate children for college, and being first generation graduates in their families. We have a lot of exciting stuff going on as always. Here is our schedule of this weeks events:

MONDAY – Cameroon vs. Tunisia and Angola vs. Egypt (Ghana)
The African Nations Cup continues with the quarterfinal matches today. Cameroon will be playing against Tunisia with the winner going on to play Ghana in the Semifinals. The other quarterfinal match is Angola vs Egypt with the winner moving on to the semifinals to play my favorite team Ivory Coast. Check it out on Jump TV.

MONDAY – Food for the Homeless (Orlando, FL)
We are now in our eleventh month of our weekly feeding program in Downtown Orlando, Florida. Meet us on the corner of Magnolia and Washington at 6:45pm. We will be Downtown until 8pm. E-mail Chris to get more info: cgoyzueta@rockforhunger.org.

TUESDAY – Poverty Branch @ Back Booth (Orlando, FL)
Rock for Hunger band Poverty Branch is performing at Back Booth in Downtown Orlando Florida at 9pm. Back Booth is located at 37 W. Pine St. Orlando, FL 32801. Check out Poverty Branch on myspace.

THURSDAY – African Cup of Nations Semifinals (Ghana)
It’s the African Cup of Nations semifinal matches. Ghana and Ivory Coast are already through the next round awaiting the winners of the other quarterfinal matches. My predictions will be Cameroon vs Ghana, and Egypt vs Ivory Coast.

FRIDAY – Tutors & Meals (Orlando, FL)
We have a lot of great new volunteers, and a great program to help kids in low income neighborhoods with their Math and Reading skills. Come help out and make a difference in over 50 children’s lives. For more info e-mail Chris at cgoyzueta@rockforhunger.org.

SATURDAY – Rock for Hunger Angels Party (Orlando, FL)
