The Week in Rock for Hunger (1/25/2008)

This week in Rock for Hunger is closing out with another great show at Back Booth with Astronautalis, Bleubird, and Mad Illz. Last night Rock for Hunger artist BackRive brought out 170 people to Back Booth for a really awesome show with Traverser, Munk Tung, and (un)SAID. Thank you to the Volunteer UCF crew for brining a ton of great volunteers to our Tutors & Meals on Friday, and thank you to our director Clara for holding it down all by herself. Tomorrow it’s time for another great week of taking action in the community, and great music. Here is what we got on the program:

MONDAY – Food Sharing & Love for the Homeless (Orlando, FL)
Have you been to our weekly food sharing for the homeless in Downtown Orlando yet? If not then you are definitely missing out. We meet every Monday at 6:45pm at the corner of Magnolia and Washington, and head to the post office around 7pm when all the troops have gathered. Please try to make the commitment and come out one night. You won’t regret it. For more info e-mail us at volunteer@rockforhunger.org.

THURSDAY – 44 Down at the Haven (Winter Park, FL)
Rock for Hunger performing artist 44 Down is back in action with a brand new singer, and a brand new single on their myspace. Go check them out for their show at The Haven. Show starts at 9:30pm. The Haven is located at 6700 Aloma Ave Winter Park, FL 32792, only ½ mile away from Full Sail.

THURSDAY – Cobra Starship at the Social (Orlando, FL)
Our friends from Cobra Starship have a huge SOLD OUT show at the Social. If you have tickets enjoy the show. Be sure the get your tickets early next time. They will be back in town this summer on Warped Tour with Gym Class Heroes.

FRIDAY – Tutors & Meals (Orlando, FL)
Last week was a great Tutors & Meals with lots of volunteers, and a very successful class. Come join us again this week to help kids in the Parramore area of Orlando with their Math and Literacy skills. We meet every Friday from 3:30pm to 5pm. FRIDAY – The Secret State + Last November at Back Booth (Orlando, FL)
Rock for Hunger artist The Secret State as well as Last November from Atlanta, GA will be rocking it at our home the Back Booth. Go check out this great show. Show starts at 8pm, and tickets are only $6. Back Booth is located at 37 W. Pine St. Orlando, FL 32801.

SATURDAY – The Fling at Wall St. (Orlando, FL)
Close out the week with the Fling at Wall St. Plaza in Downtown Orlando. Justin from the Fling has been at our Monday night Food Sharing to play some tunes several times. Big supporters of RFH, and now go support them for their big night on the Wall St. Stage.
