In late 2006, Orlando, Florida was blessed with the birth of one of the most unique, original, and talented young bands to date. Fusing folk, rock, and pop together was something that one may have believed to have experienced before, but this band presented this blend in a dissimilar and never-before-seen fashion. Within a year and half, this band has already conquered Central Florida, and has opened many doors along the way. They are dedicated, hard-working, forthright, and above all - a real class act.

The aforementioned enigma of which I allude is none other than Poverty Branch, the latest and greatest thing to happen to the Orlando music scene. As their fan base continues to multiply and their shows continue to pack out local venues, this five-piece band has managed to keep their feet on the ground and their minds on the well-being of the community.
Poverty Branch were not only one of the main highlights at Rock for Hunger's 2nd Annual Music Festival, but they have also taken a genuine interest in the company's mission and future. It may just be a coincidence that their name features the word "Poverty," but it is evident that this word also serves a deeper meaning for the band.
If you do not mind sacrificing hours of your life, I would like to ask you to check out Poverty Branch's MySpace page. Do not blame me when you find yourself listening to tracks like "Come Home," "The Ballad of Lacy May," and the best song nominee of last year's festival "House Fire" for hours on end.
Each of their songs sound more mature and adult than their surprisingly young college ages. Their craft is masterful and filled with precision, while their hooks are nothing short of "ear worms" - melodies that get stuck in your head in order to inhabit and repeat over and over again.
So, check out their MySpace here and experience their charismatic one of a kind live show next Thursday, March 6th at BackBooth in Downtown Orlando. They will be appearing with The Dark Romantics, Snails in Folklore, and History.
If you fail to witness them this time around, do not panic. You will be able to catch Poverty Branch as part of Rock for Hunger's spring concert in just a few months. More information on that show will be announced very soon.
Upcoming Schedule:
