The Week in Rock for Hunger (1/21/08)
>> Sunday, January 20, 2008
Welcome to another fantastic week in Rock for Hunger, which always is a week of making a difference!
Last week we went to the Employment Guide Job Fair with one of our friends from Downtown Orlando. We took Mr. Philip to the Employment Guide job fair after providing him with a killer resume from our multi talented writers Greg, Logan, Barbara, and Adam. KG & Clara picked him up Wednesday morning and brought him over. Philip was a real go getter, and very proud to be there. Because of his go getter attitude and hard work, he managed to attain himself four interviews this week!!! That’s right FOUR!!! That’s more interviews than I got this week…haha! We will be saying our prayers, and wishing him good luck to get a full time position with benefits.
Here is what we got going on this week:
MONDAY- Food for the Homeless (Orlando, FL)
We never skip a week! This week we will be back in Downtown Orlando to feed the homeless from 6:45pm to 8pm. For more info send a message to Big Ben at bbergholtz@rockforhunger.org. We meet on the corner of Magnolia and Washington. Check our website www.rockforhunger.org and go to our programs section to find out what to bring.
MONDAY – Ivory Coast vs. Nigeria
This is not a Rock for Hunger event, but wouldn’t it be great if it was! Anyways the African Cup of Nations 2008 kicked off this morning with a great match of Ghana vs. Guinea, which Ghana took 2-1. Ivory Coast is my favorite team, and they will go into an epic battle with Nigeria. Great way to kick-off the second day.
TUESDAY – Egypt vs. Cameroon
Another very great match in the 2008 African Cup of Nations worth checking out. You can go to Jump TV to see the action live.
THURSDAY – Chris Burns at Tanqueray’s (Orlando, FL)
Our good friend Chris Burns will be performing at Tanqueray’s in Downtown Orlando Florida on the corner of Orange Ave and Pine St.
FRIDAY – Tutors & Meals (Orlando, FL)
Thank you to our great volunteers last week for making a commitment to come at least once a month, and more. We can still use some great help for our tutors and meals program on Friday’s. We meet every week from 3:30pm to 5pm as we help less fortunate children succeed in school, by working on their math and literacy skills. For more info e-mail Chris at cgoyzueta@rockforhunger.org.
I wish everyone a great week full of success, peace, and GIVING!
