Rock For Resumes - January 15th, 2008

Tuesday, January 15th is the first class of Rock For Hunger’s Job and Development Training Series. I am very excited to announce this, not only because it is my program, but because there are so many stories and possibilities out there to help people live the life that they deserve.

While I do have a curriculum, this is a chance for me to hear people’s stories and find a way to enrich their lives through the means that I have been given and the technology that I can take advantage of.

For the first class, we are having a resume workshop. I have tapped into a local friend and company to help out and be a part of this event. Emurse is an Orlando based resume building site that can help the individuals build a resume out of the information they have available and store it online on a custom web page.

The Orlando Employment Guide has also supplied Job Seeker Survival Guides, the latest issue of the Employment Guide and access to their resume CD at their job fair event.

The goal of this initial session is to engage everyone in the initial job seeking step, see what information is missing in their portfolio and learn their stories to assist in job placement.

The timing for this resume session could not be better as job fair season is in full swing. Here is a breakdown of the job fair events.

Transportation to get these people to and from the job fair. Possibly a church van or a driving company that would like to sponsor this. Please send any information that you have about a potential van company to grollett@tmail.com.

I am looking forward to helping out where I can and give these great individuals a chance to get out of poverty in the local Orlando community. There is a long way to go, but I think we have a great team prepared for the journey.
