Featured Artist of the Week: Lona

>> Wednesday, January 30, 2008

Conveniently placed somewhere between Azure Ray and Sarah McLachlan lies a rising artist that has taken hold of many hearts in Orlando, Florida. The name of the group is Lona, and their music will move you.

Fronted by the Rock for Hunger Board Member and event coordinator Angela Griner, Lona has not only donated their time and a few of their live performances to Rock for Hunger, but also have pushed the philanthropic envelope by getting more involved than most other groups in the Central Florida area. They appeared at Rock for Hunger 2 and our Ten Thousand Villages event, just to name a few. You can almost consider Lona's music the soundtrack to ending poverty in Central Florida.

Simply by visiting their MySpace page, you can sample two incredibly canorous tracks that are laced with utter emotion. For me, "Nothing Gold" is a huge success. Angela's voice shines bright throughout, while the words manage to be felt and not just passively heard. The melodies are delightfully indelible. As a self-proclaimed neophyte in the field of music supervision, I can see this piece fitting perfectly into a scene of any dramatic television series.

Lona has something special that you definitely should observe for yourself. Please check them out on February 2nd at BackBooth. The show may cause you to stop caterwauling all of the time. It also may just may change your outlook on life all together.

Upcoming Schedule:

2 Feb 2008 7:00 P
