Rock For Hunger teams up with Food Not Bombs

>> Thursday, November 15, 2007

Last night, Rock for Hunger decided to expand our reach and help out some of our peers, as Chris and myself brought some delicious food to feed the homeless at the Food Not Bombs feeding at Lake Eola. With the help of some kind donations, we were able to serve snapper, chicken breasts, crab meat, steamed vegetables, and crown bread. It was interesting to see a different way of doing what we do every week, and seeing some familiar faces to spend time with. We also met up with a man who works with the homeless directly in providing transitional housing at about 40 dollars a week for up to 30 weeks while they get back on their feet. This may be a very valuable asset in our quest to end poverty here in Orlando, as many helping hands make light work, and affordable housing is often times the missing link between being homeless and obtaining jobs and stability in life. It was a great experience, and Rock For Hunger will most definitely be back out on Wed. nights in the future.

That's awesome Ben. I will be sure to include this in our weekly videos and event calendar! Rock For Hunger is expanding by the day! Let's make sure that the momentum from the concert is not lost. Poverty doesn't start or stop with one show, one event, one donation. It is a process. R4H

I was unaware of this. I am definitely interested in attending in the future.
